Hi! I’m Robyn. In August 2017, I turned to a low-carb diet to address a metabolic health issue with my cholesterol. At the time, I was living with bipolar disorder, OCD, and depression, and I believed the antipsychotics and antidepressants I was taking were my only option for mental wellness. I focused first on improving my physical health, embracing a low-carb, then ketogenic, and eventually carnivore approach. I lost over 50 pounds, regained my energy, and slowly began to realize that something deeper was changing as well.
About a year into this new way of living, everything shifted. I heard Dr. Georgia Ede speak about the connection between ketogenic diets and mental health, and for the first time, I recognized my own story in what she described. I began to see that my psychiatric symptoms had quietly faded alongside the metabolic changes I had made. That realization changed the direction of my life and led me into advocacy, storytelling, and a deeper commitment to sharing hope with others.
My story has been featured in The Cholesterol Code documentary, and I was honored as a finalist for the Metabolic Mind Fresh Start Award for advocacy that expands the conversation around mental health and recovery. I also created Ketobiography, a podcast devoted to real stories of healing, resilience, and discovery through low-carb and ketogenic approaches. Through these conversations, I aim to amplify lived experience and connect people with voices, ideas, and possibilities they may not hear elsewhere.
I also work with Metabolic Collective, where I help support a broader mission of peer-led community, lived-experience advocacy, and expanded awareness of metabolic therapies for psychiatric and neurological conditions. Today, my work is centered on storytelling, connection, and helping more people discover that there may be more options—and more hope—than they have been told.
I share weekly reflections, updates, and new Ketobiography episodes through my newsletter, Ketobiography Circle. If you’d like to follow the conversation around metabolic health, lived experience, and real stories of change, you can subscribe here.
